What are the two paths that rainfall can take after it reaches the land surface?

What will be an ideal response?

Precipitation can soak into the ground or flow on the surface. If the precipitation infiltrates the ground it can be taken up by plants, evaporate as soil moisture, or become ground water. If the water flows on the surface, it will eventually enter a stream.
