Interview a social work practitioner about any ethical dilemmas he or she has experienced in the context of worker–client relationships. Ask the social worker about any common ethical dilemmas for professionals in his or her position, and how these can be successfully resolved.
What will be an ideal response?
When asking the social worker to describe these ethical dilemmas, the social worker should try to place the dilemma into the context of the social work code of ethics as well as the social worker’s articulated allegiances to personal, social, or agency values. The student should be particularly interested in understanding the process by which the social worker resolved the dilemma, and if this represented a stated or internalized value hierarchy.
