Choose one of the four ways that computers can be distributed in a school. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of this arrangement and tell why you prefer it

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER: Suggested answer: Computer labs are one way. Some advantages of labs are that they allow all students to use computers simultaneously; they are ideal for teaching about the computer; and they facilitate demonstration. However, labs are not useful for cooperative or interdisciplinary learning due to the lack of table space. Access is sometimes limited. Single-computer classrooms are another way. They are good for record keeping and can be used to facilitate cooperative groups. However, there is limited opportunity for each student. Classroom clusters are a third way. They encourage education with technology. This is the most flexible use of computers. However, they are costly, require more printers, and are not very useful for training how to use technology. Laptops and handheld computers are becoming more common for individual use. In the future they may be as common as calculators.
