Explain some of the arguments that favor and oppose allowing jurors to ask questions of witnesses during a criminal trial

What will be an ideal response?

Opponents of allowing jurors to ask questions claim that questions are more likely to benefit the prosecution and that the jurors will be unable to keep an open mind until all evidence has been presented.
Proponents suggest that allowing jurors to ask questions will keep them more engaged, will help clarify witness testimony, and could increase juror confidence in the verdict.
