Explain how learning and understanding the public
speaking process will help you in your public,
professional and personal life.
What will be an ideal response?
In my public life, public speaking will help me be able to speak up about
issues that affect me in the community. For example, I might have to challenge an
issue at a city council meeting or a school board meeting, and becoming a better
public speaker will give me the know-how and confidence to do so. Public speaking
will also help me in my professional life because most employers are looking for
employees who have good oral and written communication skills. When
interviewing for a job, public speaking skills will enhance my ability to persuade the
interviewer that I am the best candidate for the job. Finally, it can also help me in
my personal life because public speaking skills can boost my self-esteem and selfdevelopment. I can learn that public speaking is something that I can do well and it
can boost my confidence overall.
