An EBT stands for evidence based treatments. These are child abuse interventions that have been scientifically tested and show overall greater benefit compared to other treatments. An example of this discussed by the authors is, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, or PCIT. The literature shows that these have been effective for the most common mental health conditions among victims of child maltreatment. Additionally, the successful results of these treatment plans are generalizable to a diverse population.
