Why is it important to be culturally aware, and what can managers do to improve communications between multicultural teams?
What will be an ideal response?
The textbook states several reasons why it is important to be mutliculturally aware,
including a 2016 survey that indicates that corporate teams are almost entirely virtual
and the majority of respondents indicating that half of their teams are from different
countries. Moreover, these numbers are increasing. Having employees from different
cultures provides a greater reach into global markets and provide a greater variety of
solutions to problems. Managers can improve communications between multicultural
teams by following these guidelines: be concise, avoid jargon, listen better, and be
respectful of cultural and religious differences.
