Describe the three types of protein fibers common to the extracellular matrix of tissues

What will be an ideal response?

Collagen fibers are composed of the protein collagen and serve as a strong steel cable that is resistant to tension and pressure. Elastic fibers stretch beyond their resting length without breaking (distensibility) and return to their original length upon resting (elasticity). Reticular fibers are a shorter, thinner type of collagen fiber. They form a mesh network or scaffolding that support cells and organs.
