Identify and discuss Likert’s scaling procedures.

What will be an ideal response?

? A large number of items are selected and about evenly expressed as either positive or negative statements regarding the subject of investigation.
? For each item the respondent is asked to respond using usually a five-point scale (strongly agree, agree, don’t know, disagree, and strongly disagree).
? The total score for each individual is the simple sum of all items although the researcher should exercise caution in identifying and scoring appropriate reversals or items that were negative.
? Items that lack variability or fail to distinguish between high and low scores are eliminated from the final scale.
? Only those items retained in the final index are scored and used in the final analysis.
