Between affective conflict and substantive conflict, which is more likely to yield to positive consequences? Why?

While affective conflict often results in negative consequences, substantive
conflict can yield positive consequences. Groups, as well as individuals who experience
conflict are able to make better decisions (Amason, 1996; Fiol, 1994; Putnam, 1994;
Schweiger, Sandberg & Ragan, 1986). Conflict over tasks can help people identify and
better understand the issues involved (Putnam, 1992). Opposing points of view, when
expressed, can actually clarify issues and uncover problems that have been less obvious
or unknown. Critiquing solutions helps a group avoid groupthink. Groupthink occurs
when a group does not allow opposing viewpoints to be expressed and believes its
decisions are invincible or not subject to criticism. Open discussions of opposing views
about the task can be associated with completing tasks and using resources more
effectively.
