Evaluate this statement: By the end of the first trimester, most growth in a fetus is in size, not complexity

What will be an ideal response?

It is the embryo and early fetal stages when the overwhelming majority of specialization and development occurs. The pattern of organ systems is laid out, organogenesis is well underway, and immature versions of all the major organ systems form by 12 weeks. Up until the end of the first trimester, the majority of development consists of establishing the complex variety of organs and organ systems that make up a human. Although some further development of organs does occur, from the 13th week on, it is mainly growth in size rather than production of new organs that occurs.
