Sexual disorders are classified into lifelong sexual disorder and acquired sexual disorder. A lifelong sexual disorder is one that has been present ever since the person became sexual. Lifelong erectile disorder is an example in which the man has never been able to have an erection that is satisfactory for intercourse. An acquired sexual disorder is a dysfunction that develops after a period of normal functioning. In acquired erectile disorder, the man has difficulty getting or maintaining an erection but has had erections sufficient for intercourse at other times.
