Identify and describe the five basic patterns of social interaction discussed in your text
What will be an ideal response?
Exchange, cooperation, competition, conflict, and coercion. Exchange: we give things to people after they give things to us or in expectation of receiving things in the future. In cooperation, we work together toward a common goal. Competition can occur when resources are limited and people or organizations must compete for them. Conflict occurs when competition becomes more intense and hostile, with the competitors actively hating each other and perhaps breaking social norms to acquire the prized goal. In coercion, individuals or groups with social power (superordinate) use threats to control the actions of those with less power (subordinate).
