Describe two ways in which sinkholes form
What will be an ideal response?
Sinkholes can form when the limestone immediately below the soil is dissolved by downward-seeping rainwater that is freshly charged with carbon dioxide. These types of sinkholes are usually shallow depressions with relatively gentle slopes. Sinkholes can also form when the roof of a cavern collapses under its own weight. These types of sinkholes are normally deep with steep sides.
