Describe some of the sources of trauma in the lives of young children and explain how to support children in times of crisis

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER: Sources of trauma may include violence, moving, divorce, etc. In times of crisis children have to deal with fear, anxiety, and stress. Adults need to be observant of children’s behaviors. Crisis oriented literature can be helpful in getting in children to work through their emotions. It is very important to listen to children and to speak carefully when discussing a problem. Most of the affective curriculum is based on spontaneous, unplanned events, the adult’s sensitivity to what children mean and what they feel, and the ability to respond in a sensitive manner.
