Discuss how personal values are related to professionalism in victim services.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Everyone prioritizes certain values more than others. For example, an individual who believes that success is more important than pleasure might focus more on his professional career and have less leisure time. Another critical factor is that not all values are moral values. For example, although pleasure and happiness are important in our lives, those are not necessarily tied to moral behavior. In contrast, certain values such as respect, responsibility, and humility are to be used as a basis for ethical decision making. Ethically, moral values should take priority over nonmoral values when they come into conflict. There are also social values such as democracy and the public good, which would be considered necessary to achieve a good society. In evaluating your personal values, you might also consider how those values are related to larger professional and societal values and how they would influence your response to challenging situations.
