To cross-check a story, review the report and the details of the offense. Determine the past record, family status, hobbies, and special interests of those questioned. If a person has a criminal record, determine his or her prior modus operandi. With such information, you can ask questions in a way that indicates you know what you are talking about and that deceptive answers will be found out.
