What are glulams? Briefly describe their characteristics.

What will be an ideal response?

Glued laminated wood members, or glulams, are formed of solid sawn lumber that is finger-jointed end to end and then face bonded in laminations. The individual laminations, or "lams" are selected and positioned based on their performance characteristics, and bonded together with durable, moisture-resistant adhesives. The strongest material is placed on the outer faces of beams, with the weaker material placed near neutral axis. Glulams are the only engineered wood product that can be produced in compound curved shapes.
