What is cognitive style, and how does it affect sexuality and sexual problems?

What will be an ideal response?

Cognitive style is related to a client’s beliefs that influence emotional dysfunction. In rational
emotive behavioral therapy, irrational beliefs are the main cause of psychological problems, and
therefore, they should be addressed in therapy. Irrational beliefs tackle all areas of human functioning,
including love and sexuality, imposing unrealistic expectations and imposing rigid rules for emotional
and sexual functioning. People tend to base their self-worth on their relationships and make absolutist
demands concerning them. And if all of these expectations are not fulfilled, psychological distress and
problems will be evoked.
