Explain how to install batts around roof framing members.
What will be an ideal response?
When installing batts around roof framing members, cut the batts so they fit tightly around each piece of wood.
Work from a two-and-a-half-foot square plywood piece set across the joists so you don’t press down the existing insulation or fall through the ceiling. Do not block the air vents between the exterior soffits (eaves) that permit air flow into the attic with insulation. Attic ventilation from the eaves to the roof must be maintained. Purchase foam or cardboard baffles to place between the joists as they pass over exterior walls. These baffles will keep a pathway open for air to enter the attic.
