Describe transitive and intransitive verbs
What will be an ideal response?
A transitive verb is a verb that has an object or a receiver of the verb's action. To find that
object, say the verb and ask "What?" or "Whom?" The answer to that question is the direct
object. If a direct object follows a verb, that verb is transitive. Example: "Laura accepted Ken's
gift." Say the verb: "accepted." Ask "What?" or "Whom?" Accepted what?
