Explain how the Office of Inspector General (OIG) work plans can assist in the auditing process. Use the work plans in the chapter to explain the relationship.
What will be an ideal response?
OIG looks for discrepancies in the billing and coding process and makes an effort to monitor every health care facility to ensure they are not making the same mistakes. Keeping a list of potential auditing possibilities allows facilities to be proactive and make the changes so that they are compliant at all times. For instance, using the appropriate place of service with the appropriate code is important in order to represent the appropriate service provided.
