Harold's discharge likely violates the law. In serving on the jury, Harold was fulfilling his civic duty and following the law. Firing him for his refusal to lie to get out of jury service so he could show up for work seems to fall directly under the language of the statute that prohibits the employers from discharging employees for refusing to violate public policy.
