Walter was interviewing for a job as a marketer and had just been asked the question, “What’s an example of a time when you received negative feedback? How did you handle it?” Walter had used his Interview Preparation Checklist to assemble the right marketing materials for the interview and this was the perfect opportunity to use it. He pulled out a before and
after sample of branding work he had done as part of a project for a course. He showed his initial ideas and how they improved dramatically with the feedback he received. He highlighted how he incorporated the feedback and pushed the ideas further. By following the Interview Preparation Checklist, he was able to show how he handled negative feedback to create an even better final solution. Even though he didn’t predict using his marketing materials for this question, it worked out perfectly.
