(2) Academic journals: Articles in these are written by professors and researchers in specific areas of study. These journals require that articles be reviewed by the researchers' peers. (3) Government sites: Most of what the federal and state governments do these days is posted online, including public records and laws. Examples include the Census Bureau, NASA, and the Department of Energy. (4) Reference sites: The major encyclopedias and dictionaries obtain their information from subject-matter experts. Although some can be searched online for free, others require a subscription.
