What is guided writing, and how might it be implemented in a writing workshop?
What will be an ideal response?
During guided writing, students are taught writing strategies in small groups in which all members are at the same stage of writing development. They are taught particular elements, and then are provided with examples, modeling, and practice. After this guided practice, students apply the skill by using it in their own writing. Revision and evaluation should focus on the element introduced. The guided reading lesson can be more extensive than a minilesson, and can take longer.
