Where does the American Dream fit in Agnew's strain theory?

What will be an ideal response?

Possible answer: The American Dream is only one source of possible strain in a person's life, but only if that individual places great importance on seeking the dream. Thus, if a person buys into the American Dream and is denied access to it, great frustration and strain may arise. This frustration and strain can be dealt with in many ways, as all strain theorists contend. For Agnew, when one does not have positive coping skills or the resources to help relieve this stress, one may be at higher risk of turning to crime.
