Compensation includes all the extrinsic rewards an employee receives. Pay is the actual dollars an employee receives. Incentives are rewards offered in addition to the base wage or salary (usually related to performance). Benefits are rewards that employees receive as a result of their employment; e.g., paid vacations, insurance, retirement.
