What are the five social classes and how do they impact individuals as a social structure?
Please provide the best answer for the statement
1. A social class is a group of people who have similar access to wealth, power, and prestige.
A person’s class can impact their health and longevity and how others perceive them.
2. Upper class: Have access to vast amounts of financial resources and a large degree of
control over not only their own lives but also society, through politics and the economy.
These individuals also receive a lot of social respect and are often lauded for their work.
3. Upper middle class: Have successful careers and are able to exert a lot of control over their
own lives, and over their jobs in particular. They live a comfortable life and can afford
access to good medical care.
4. Middle class: Work jobs that are well respected in society, even if they themselves are not
well-known. Their jobs protect them from dangerous environments that might harm their
health.
5. Working class: Work dangerous jobs that at times put their health at risk. Their jobs do not
have any prestige attached to them.
6. Lower class: May not have jobs at all, and if they do, it is working paycheck to paycheck
to survive. These jobs are often looked down upon, and individuals are not able to afford
healthcare or to engage in healthy activities.
