Clarify why and how imagery can help you perform better

Imagery is used to mentally rehearse a skill in preparation for the real event. This could be something like seeing yourself doing well on a test or performing in an athletic event. You might view yourself performing to perfection immediately prior to participating in an activity, much like Jack Nicklaus did prior to each golf shot. One study showed that students who prepared for a test and used visualization remained calmer and more at ease during the exam. They were better able to remember the information they studied.
