Discuss the appropriate demeanor while in court for a defendant.

What will be an ideal response?

Beyond looking good, it is important that defendants display an appropriate demeanor while in court. This includes looking interested in what is happening, not scowling, and having a concerned yet pleasant expression when possible. Defendants should not acknowledge or talk to witnesses or victims as they appear in court. It is also important that defendants not react emotionally to what they hear from the witness stand or the prosecution. Even if testimony is untrue and inflammatory, it is critical that defendants refrain from showing any reaction to what they hear.
