Describe the Data Encryption Standard (DES).

What will be an ideal response?

The Data Encryption Standard (DES), which is developed by the National Bureau of Standards (NBS), divides the data bit stream into 64-bit blocks that are enciphered separately. The encryption key is a 56-bit key to maintain the secure transmission of information. The 56-bit encryption key functions like a combinational key with 252 or 7.2 x 1016 possible combination. It is almost impossible to break the combination code of the encryption key.
