Explain several critiques of the juvenile detention.

What will be an ideal response?

Critics of juvenile detention have argued that putting delinquent youths together increases recidivism by allowing them to learn new methods of offending, and impairs successful reintegration into society. Detention can also stunt maturation and educational attainment, damage the psychological and physical health of mentally ill juveniles, and incur much higher expenses than in-home supervision.
