One can become a more effective communicator by clarifying one's ideas, considering the environment in which the communication occurs, considering emotional overtones as well as the message, following up on communication, and being a good listener. Even more important than getting one's meaning across is listening to and understanding what the other person says. If one pays attention to the communication process, then he or she will be in a position to take advantage of new technology.
