Define "stale-dated check" and describe how it should be handled in a healthcare facility.

What will be an ideal response?

A stale-dated check is one that was issued by the business that has not cleared after a long period. The payee is asked about the check. If it was lost or never received, then the original check is voided and the check is re-issued. If the check is not yet six months old, then a stop-payment order is requested from the bank. The stale-dated check is removed from the accounting records.
