Explain the risk factors for developing cardiovascular diseases. Which are modifiable?

What will be an ideal response?

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Some of the risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease are non-modifiable, meaning there is little or nothing that one can do to lessen this risk. These include age, family history, ethnicity and gender. Certain risk factors however are modifiable, and changes can result in an increased or decreased risk of developing cardiovascular disease. These include tobacco use, being overweight or obese, not being physically active, and having high blood pressure, blood cholesterol levels, or poorly controlled diabetes. Diet changes can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease through its potential effects on body weight, blood pressure, blood cholesterol levels, and blood sugar control.
