Without a will the property and possessions of the deceased will fall into intestate succession. Having a will allows the person to have an apportionment clause distributing the estate tax burden among the beneficiaries. Wills allow for the distribution of wealth to the beneficiaries as seen fit by the testator. Wills also allow for the appointment of guardians and guidelines to care for the minors. Wills may provide funeral arrangements and organ donation instructions. Other answers may be included.
