Why are team-based reward systems becoming more widely used?

What will be an ideal response?

Team-based reward systems are becoming more widely used because more companies are being designed around, or are using, teams. Individual pay-for-performance reward systems don't properly fit in these organizations. Rewarding individual performance increases competition amongst team members (disharmony), and there is a tendency to place individual goals above team goals.
