Using a fictitious case study, illustrate two strategies for increasing naturalistic teaching of language
What will be an ideal response?
Using a fictitious case study, illustrate two strategies for increasing naturalistic teaching of language.
Answers will vary widely, but here is an example of two naturalistic strategies for
5-year-old Pascha, who can speak but usually instead tugs on teachers, points at what she wants, and grunts. The first strategy occurs during lunchtime, when Pascha is deliberately given small portions and given more when she verbally requests it but ignored when she grunts. The second strategy is to place Pascha's favorite toy out of her reach during play time. It is given to her only when she verbally requests it. When she points, her teachers prompt her to ask for what she wants.
