A person suffers injury in a car accident, loses a serious amount of blood, and is in danger of going into shock from low blood pressure. Discuss what effect such an injury would have on the production of ADH, aldosterone, atrial natriuretic factor, angiotensin, and erythropoietin
What will be an ideal response?
ADH levels will rise, leading to more fluid retention to replace blood volume. Aldosterone levels will rise, increasing salt absorption and therefore blood volume. Atrial natriuretic factor levels will drop, also leading to sodium retention. Angiotensin levels will rise, thus restoring blood pressure. Over a longer period of time erythropoietin levels will rise until enough red blood cells are produced to bring their level up to normal.

Imagine in lemmings, that gray fur color (G) is dominant over white (g). There is another gene, called color, and individuals must have at least one color (C) allele for gray color to be expressed. Which of the following is accurate regarding the biochemical pathway and the enzymes needed for the production of gray fur?
_____ Enzyme C acts on colorless precursor molecule to produce colorless intermediate; enzyme G works on colorless intermediate to produce gray molecule. _____ Enzyme G acts on colorless precursor molecule to produce a colorless intermediate; enzyme C works on colorless intermediate to produce gray molecule. _____ Half the amount of enzyme C or enzyme G is enough for making the gray color molecule.
