Propose a set of procedures or steps to sequence an individual cell's genome present in lake water
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: First, individual cells would need to be sorted through either flow cytometry or use of laser tweezers. To obtain sufficient quantities of DNA for genome sequencing, the individual cell's genome must then be amplified. Traditional PCR will not suffice, so multiple displacement amplification (MDA) is required to randomly replicate the cell's genome using a bacteriophage DNA polymerase.

Prokaryotic cells are smaller than eukaryotic cells. What is a plausible explanation?
A. Prokaryotic cell walls limit their cell growth. B. Prokaryotes lack the genetic material needed for protein synthesis. C. Eukaryotes have compartmentalization, which allows for specialization. D. Prokaryotes have more diverse energy sources. E. Eukaryotes are immobile allowing them to grow larger.
