Relational theory emphasizes a clinician's authenticity. Describe how a clinician can demonstrate authenticity. How do/would you demonstrate yours?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Clinicians can demonstrate authenticity by sharing their honest and relatively open subjective reactions to the therapeutic process. While the focus must always be on the client, self-disclosure is considered an important aspect of mutuality and subjectivity in the therapeutic relationship when it relates to the client’s needs. It may involve sharing countertransferential feelings as well as disclosures of the therapist’s thinking process in relation to helping the client recognize his impact on others.
