If you don't know the answer to a question then:

a) Saying "no comment" is the best strategy. If you know part of the answer then going "off the
record" and telling the reporter what you do know is the best option.
b) Saying you will get back to the reporter with the answer, and then doing so in a timely manner
c) Asking to go "off the record," and then give the reporter what you think is the correct answer.
d) Distract the reporter or change the subject in order to avoid answering the question
