Give an overview of the REPLAN system and the 3 basic steps of treatment planning according to this model.

What will be an ideal response?

REPLAN is a goal directed, treatment planning model using the six therapeutic factors of R = A Strong Helper-Client Relationship, E = Enhancing Efficacy and Self-Esteem, P = Practicing New Behaviors, L = Lowering and Raising Emotional Arousal, A = Activating Client Expectations, Hope and Motivation and N = New Learning Experiences. It is unique in focusing on a few goals and using strategies associated with one or two therapeutic factors. Therefore, it is an effective brief treatment model. The three basic steps in the REPLAN treatment planning are: 1. Creating mutually agreed upon goals as a result of the assessment that are understandable to both client and helper. Goals are then boiled down into a workable form. 2. Use the common therapeutic factors to generate a list of possible strategies to achieve the goals. 3. REPLAN the treatment regularly, about every 6 weeks as old issues are resolved, new problems become the focus of treatment.
