In what ways has the media influenced the public's perception of criminal profiling, and how close to reality is this perception?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Media accounts of profiling, especially in fictional television and movie depictions have been grossly inaccurate, and thus the public tends to perceived profiling as a highly accurate, almost magical way of identifying unknown suspects. In reality profiling has been anything but successful over the years.
