What is a PERT chart and what are its benefits?
What will be an ideal response?
A Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) chart is a scheduling device that is used to track events that must occur in order for the product to be completed on time. Events (completed actions) are identified and placed into a sequence. Time required to complete the event is identified. All of this is placed in a graphic form so the manager can determine what has to happen and when it has to occur. If a manager spots a delay in the critical path of events (the longest sequence of events through the chart), then the manager can take appropriate action to correct this problem.
