Jane is an American who spent most of her childhood in Australia while her mother worked there as a
wildlife photographer. Because there was not that much television to watch and spotty Internet service in
the places they lived, Jane read a lot of books and kept a journal about her adventures with her mother.
Jane returned to America for high school in San Francisco. She attended a small, private high school in
the heart of the city, where she learned to play the cello and joined the lacrosse team. She received a
scholarship to Oxford University in England upon graduation and double-majored in English composition
and historical fiction.
Joe learned to read and write a very early age in his hometown of Bozeman, Montana. He drew
illustrations for his middle-school newspaper and added captions that were surprisingly mature and often
humorous, and the local city newspaper ran quite a few, in addition to doing a feature story on his talents.
Joe attended public high school and served on the newspaper staff, eventually achieving title of editor his
senior year. His features included stories on nearby ranchers, the mountain flora, and students in the
school. He attended the University of Wyoming on a generous scholarship, majoring in journalism.
