Afghanistan is at the crossroads of Central Asia and is home to a vast array of different ethnic groups who speak different languages. The southern part of Afghanistan is dominated by Pashtun people who speak Pashto. The northern and central parts of Afghanistan are populated by people who speak Dari. There are also pockets of Hazaras sprinkled throughout the central highlands of Afghanistan. The northern frontier of Afghanistan, along the borders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan speak Turkic languages.
