Describe the relationship between scope of authority and accountability.
What will be an ideal response?
Scope of authority narrows as you go lower in the hierarchy of the organization. The CEO has a very broad scope of authority over everything that happens in the organization, while the authority the CEO delegates to those under them is narrower, focused on their individual area of responsibility. As each manager delegates authority to those under them, the scope of authority continues to narrow. Accountability, on the other hand, cannot be delegated like authority and responsibility and flows “up” the organizational hierarchy, as each manager maintains accountability to those who delegated authority to them, and still has accountability for the tasks they themselves have delegated to those under them.
