Why do the Germans find it so much more expensive to produce an aluminum beer can as opposed to a glass bottle?
What will be an ideal response?
The German glass reuse system exists, it functions well, and has been in use for
decades. It is quite commonplace and an accepted part of life. Germans are very picky about
taste, and many friends swear to me that they can taste the can (but not the bottle) when
they drink. It seems to me and other observers that the mystique of beer is a part of the
German national character.

Hydrogen gas seems to have a diffusivity of about 2.6 x 10^-13 m^2/s when diffusing into iron at 770 K. What would you expect the rate of diffusion or mass flow rate per unit area of hydrogen to be when stored in an iron container at 5 atmospheres pressure, assuming the density of hydrogen at 1 mm in the iron from the containing surface to be 5% of the normal hydrogen density, given by p/RT?
